A few days ago, I was asked if I had bought my ticket for that great big lottery prize everyone was getting excited about. I stopped for a second since I hadn’t heard how big the prize was. It was a very large number. The person asking me was saying that winning such a large prize would certainly change their life. That would be true for many people, but I began to speculate if that change would be for better or worse. Why would it require a winning lottery ticket to make your life better? I attended the EMO show, but decided to forego the Expo since the crowds were too much for me. Walking through the EMO show, I was struck by the amount of automation on display. Most of these displays included robots.

Here in Vancouver, we have been getting inches of rain for the past week and according to next week’s forecast, the future does not look any brighter. We had a wonderful summer but now it seems like someone is trying to punish us for that. I felt like just turning my car around and going home. How nice it would be to stay there and sip hot cocoa until this weather gets better. I wanted to be like a rabbit, remaining in its seemingly safe little nest.
